Meet Team Petit Racing Nicolas Petit

Nicolas will be training Rookie Musher Lacy Kuehl from Jan 15th onward to race day Feb 25th for the Jr Iditarod. We have 100% no doubt that Nic is the man for the Jurney.

This last Summer, while racing Legend cars in #Alaska. Nicolas Petit and Scott Janssen, "The Mushin' Mortician," offered Lacy a ride in the Jr Iditarod with Team Petit. We are very grateful to have come across such extraordinary people and taken on the challenge they presented, Lacy. #ChallengeAccepted

Nicolas Petit is a French and American dog #musher. Nicolas Petit grew up in Normandy, France. He competes in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and has finished in the top ten a number of times, including in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. He won the Copper Basin 300, Knik 200, Kobuk 440, and Tustumena 200 in 2018.

Nic also races in other local shorter events. "Yukon Quest 300" Joe Redington Senior Memorial Knik 200. Copper Basin 300, which Nic has Won 3 times

“My dogs and I enjoy showing off their amazing abilities while enjoying the wonders of the Iditarod Trail.” Say's Nic

Nicolas Petit always loved animals. He moved to New Mexico in 1992, where he finished high school, and then to Alaska because he “loved snow.” He adopted “Ugly,” a gorgeous Alaskan Mutt, put a harness on him, and the adventure began. He traveled all over the state and began racing while working for Jim Lanier.

Today Nicolas Petit works with Scott Janssen, "The Mushin' Mortician," who also has raced many times in the Iditarod.
